Meet the nicest bunch of "hookers" and "strippers" you'll ever want to meet...

Come join us the third Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. of each month until early afternoon. Don't forgot to bring your sack lunch.

Our hookers have over 60 years of expertise and practice to share with anyone interested in learning this beautiful old skill.

Connie Wright, our mentor, has been hooking rugs for over 30 years, after prevailing upon her husband to make her a rug hook... a converted screwdriver. She learned the hard way about choosing fabric that wouldn't "bleed" over the other colors if it got wet. She admits that none of her early work survived, because it was so terrible. Several of Connie's projects are displayed in the Heritage Center. Including her handmade hooking stand.

In addition to learning hooking techniques, there are also workshops on dyeing wool for your upcoming projects.

The Ozark Folkways Heritage Center is located at 22733 No. Highway 71, in Winslow, Arkansas.
