Curtis Neeley's Ozark Scenes
in Black & White
Curtis was a professional Winslow photographer who was paralized in a head-on collision on Sept 3 of 2002.

After nine months in the hospital and rehab, he's no longer able to continue commercial photography. However, he does continue to do art photos and art prints from his wheelchair.

Please visit the Folkways Shop and see his art as well as the other great Ozark folks and art and crafts.

Curtis' philosophy on photography is that "a photographer is a person who sees the beauty in the simple scenes that surround and can bring that beauty to the viewer's attention so that the viewer can enjoy what might otherwise have been overlooked.

A photographer does not create art as a painter or sculptor does. Instead, the photographer preserves, presents, and focuses attention on the scenic views around him. In the Ozarks... it's just a manner of slowing down and concentrating.

A photographer is one who uses the tools available to record the beauties seen."

Anyone with a paintbrush can paint... but may not be considered a "artist".
Anyone with a knife can carve.. but may not be a "sculpter".
Anyone with a voice can sing, but may not be a "recording artist".
Anyone with a camera can take photographs... but may not be a "photographer".

Curtis Neeley truly is a PHOTOGRAPHER.
